Would Fit On The RedskinsAs we have mentioned before
#1
LANDOVER Womens Bryce Love Jersey , Md. (AP) — This was all kinds of embarrassing for the Washington Redskins, from the offense to the defense to the special teams, from the poor plays to the face-palm penalties, from the numbers on the scoreboard to the thousands of empty seats in the stands.Facing a last-place team that had nothing to play for — but appeared to have more fans in the stadium Sunday than the home team did — coach Jay Gruden’s Redskins dropped their fourth consecutive game to fall below .500 with a 40-16 loss to the New York Giants.Asked whether he’s concerned about his job status, Gruden replied: “My job’s in jeopardy every week. So I’ve just got to go about and do the best I can, get these guys ready to go, and we’ll continue to do that.”Third-string quarterback Mark Sanchez, playing for Washington (6-7) because of injuries to Alex Smith and Colt McCoy, made his first NFL start since 2015 and played like it, going 6 for 14 for 38 yards and two interceptions, including a pick-6.“It was tough sledding, for sure,” Sanchez said. “That’s easy to figure out.”The score was 40-0 in the third quarter when Gruden yanked Sanchez, whose passer rating was 10.7 and whose longest completion went for 10 yards.A reporter wanted to know what Gruden thought “went wrong” for Sanchez.“What DID work?” came Gruden’s answer. “There was nothing that worked. Nothing worked. So everything did not work.”Sanchez was replaced by another recently unemployed player, Josh Johnson, who threw his first NFL pass since 2011 and helped the hosts score all of their points in garbage time. Gruden said after the game he would prepare Johnson to start next week at Jacksonville. The Redskins were guilty of two penalties on the initial punt of the game by New York (5-8), setting a pattern: Washington was flagged 15 times for 135 yards.“Unacceptable,” said defensive back and punt returner Greg Stroman. There was a 5-yarder on Washington’s offense for having 12 men in the huddle early. Right tackle Morgan Moses was called twice for false starts in the first half, giving him 12 accepted penalties this season, the most for any player in the league. Late, after a 31-yard pass from Johnson to Josh Doctson would have set up Washington with a first-and-goal at the 3, the receiver was penalized 15 yards for taunting a defender. On the very next play, Johnson was picked off. Then, with the Giants about to punt on fourth-and-3, Washington had 12 men on the field for the punt, so New York got to keep the ball. There were boos repeatedly from a crowd listed at 57,347 — about 25,000 under the stadium’s capacity — and all the blue Giants jerseys in the stands made it “feel like we’re at home” to New York linebacker Alec Ogletree.Competing against a Redskins offensive line that included four tackles and an injured center, a mediocre Giants pass rush that entered the game with 19 sacks — an average of about 1½ per game — already was up to five for the day after Washington’s first possession of the second half.A so-so Giants offense that was missing star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. did whatever it wanted most times it had the ball and put up 34 points by halftime https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/au...rin-jersey , only four fewer than its previous highest total for an entire game this season.Rookie running back Saquon Barley gained 170 yards on only 14 carries, including a 78-yard TD, plus added another 27 yards on four catches. Eli Manning, written off by many earlier this year, looked quite competent, completing 14 of 22 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns before taking the fourth quarter off.“It’s tough to deal with. It really is. It’s unfortunate,” Gruden said. “That product we put on the field today is not a reflection of the guys’ work during the week and in practice. However, it did look bad.” Hogs Haven takes a look at 2019 NFL Draft prospects that could contribute to the Redskins"TJ Edwards, Linebacker School: Wisconsin | Conference: Big Ten Experience: Senior | Age: 22Height / Weight: 6-0 / 230 lbsProjected Draft Status: 4-5th RoundNFL Comparison: Hardy Nickerson Jr.College Statistics Player Overview Edwards was a four-year starter in the Badgers’ stout 3-4 defense. A Freshman All-American, in his first career start, Edwards made 12 tackles in Wisconsin’s 2015 opener against Alabama. He led the Badgers in tackles as a freshman and sophomore, and was second as a junior, when he was a finalist for the Butkus Award and a first-team All-American in 2017.He considered leaving a year early for the 2018 NFL Draft, but was given a “return to school” grade by the NFL draft advisory board. Still, Edwards entered his senior season with high expectations, and set career highs in tackles, solo tackles, and tackles for loss in 2018. Athletic Traits Edwards unable to participate in drills during last month’s NFL Combine due to an ankle injury. Depending on who you ask (not laser timed) Edwards ran his 40 yard dash in the high 4.7s to mid 4.8s at Wisconsin’s pro day, while weighing in at 235 pounds. His other numbers included a 32.5-inch vertical and a 112-inch broad jump.According to draft analyst Tony Pauline, Edwards looked good during position drills but wrote “The concern of scouts is the size and speed, as they believe Edwards would have to be closer to 250 pounds to stuff the run, which is what he does well. But once he weighs 250 pounds, he’ll be more of a five-second 40 guy.”The FilmSee more of his filmStrengths A dominant run defender, with 367 tackles over four years at UW.Edwards’ instincts, intelligence and toughness cover up his lack of elite athleticism.Been described as a “throw-back” player with a high motor. When watching his junior tape, Edwards did an excellent job (credited with 7 PBU and 4 INTs) at reading the QB’s eyes and looked very comfortable patrolling the shallow zone.Weaknesses It today’s NFL, it’s ok to be undersized, as long as you compensate for it with near elite athleticism, but Edwards does not. Looks stiff Montez Sweat Jersey , with tight hips, and limited change of direction. Based on his style of play, he may need to play at or near 250 pounds in the NFL, which would further limit his movement skills. What Others Are SayingPrior to the Combine, Mel Kiper stated Edwards likely wouldn’t test great but is a “smart, instinctive linebacker who could come off the board in the third or fourth round”.Fran Duffy - “T.J. Edwards is one of my favorite linebackers in the country. A four-year starter in a pro-style defense, Edwards can do a little bit of everything. An extremely instinctive player against the run, Edwards is physical downhill, uses his hands well, and navigates through traffic at a high level. Moving in reverse in coverage, Edwards may not be the best athlete in the world, but he’s got great instincts and ball skills in that area and has made some great plays on the ball over the course of his career. I think he’s a three-down player in the NFL.”NFL.com draft profile: “He’s the kind of player that nobody in our scouting department gets excited about because he’s not fast or splashy, but he knows how to play. We need depth and we need guys who know how to play and are dependable and durable.” -- Linebackers coach for NFC teamHow He the Redskins enter the 2019 season with uncertainty at ILB, but with QB and EDGE being bigger needs, Washington may decide to wait until Day 3 before selecting an off-the-ball LB.Given his role at Wisconsin, Edwards projects best as a MIKE linebacker in a 3-4 defense. Edwards had a very productive collegiate career, including 366 tackles and 10 interceptions in his career. He was an All-American in 2017.While analysts will tell you his play slipped some as a Senior, he finished 2018 with 31 more tackles than his Junior season. Of coarse, collegiate production is not a very good indicator for NFL success, and Edwards projects as an early Day 3 pick largely due to ordinary athletic traits. Specifically, he is verystiff in space, with poor change of directions skills in coverage. However, he has the character, motor, and football intelligence to outplay his draft position.
